Resource Utilization
A large sales organization in the telecommunications industry, struggled around questions of productivity and force requirements. Assessment was made of entire organizations with recommendations of force changes (wrong people were on the 'bus') and changes to the sales force selection process. Measurements were established for tracking of the critical components of the various sales functions. Recommendations were also made regarding the logistics/locations of customer records thereby reducing person-hours significantly.
Sales Force Modeling
We were asked by a computer network peripheral sales company, "How do we determine how many sales and support people we need?" Computer modeling programs were created to assist the General Sales Manager in determining sales and support force levels. We uncovered opportunities to shift workload to allow sales people to concentrate on 'sales' activities. The result was more time for the sales people to sell and, consequently, more sales.
Organizational Restructuring
An OBCOM consultant participated in the total redesign of very large sales organization with offices throughout California and Nevada. We were involved in design and implementation of changing the sales force from a geographically oriented sales force to an industry-specialized sales force. We determined force levels, operational guidelines, implementation criteria and time frames. The results were improved efficiency, reduced costs and greater sales.
Business Expansion
In the insurance industry, we worked with a small company in Northern California that had 3 or 4 locations. We detailed expansion plans into the Bay Area and Central California. After implementation, they experienced huge increases in revenue and the bottom line. They have continued to grow and now have over 60 locations statewide in California
